I’m sure we’ve all heard the saying “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. For those trying lose or maintain weight, this is especially true. Studies have found that those who skip breakfast tend to eat more calories throughout the day. This is because they are hungrier and overeat during other meals and their bodies are still looking for the nutrients is needs to survive the day.
When we first wake up, our bodies are calorie deprived and looking for nutrients. A high protein, fiber filled meal is best, as it will keep you feeling fuller for longer. Eggs, salmon, greek yogurt and fruits are a few good examples of protein and fiber to mix into your breakfast! It is also important to take in a good amount of carbs in the morning, because carbs are what give our bodies energy to get through the day! And carbs don’t always have to be bad and unhealthy. Bananas, whole grain wheat bread and beans are some good carbs that can be consumed for that first meal of the day.
Besides eating a good breakfast, there are a few other things you can do to maintain your weight and keep your body feeling good! When you first wake up, drink a glass of water. Your body will begin to burn calories and this also helps to speed up your metabolism over time. You can also add some pepper to your eggs in the morning! It has been found that a compound in black pepper actually can stop the formation of new fat cells in the body. How great is that!
Make sure to fit breakfast into your schedule for a body that’s full of energy and ready to conquer the day!
