Do you get dizzy?
There are several reasons that people suffer from dizziness and/or vertigo. Does is come when you lie down in bed and roll over? Does it come when you sit up in bed? Does it come when you are walking and turning a corner?
A common diagnosis of vertigo is BPPV, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Symptoms of BPPV are: Dizziness, a feeling like the room is spinning (vertigo), nausea, vomiting, and a loss of balance. BPPV is one of the several causes of vertigo that can be treated by a Physical Therapist. A Physical Therapist can perform an evaluation to see if your vertigo is caused by BPPV. If you have BPPV there are a series of head movements called the Epley Maneuver that can help to resolve the symptoms of BPPV. It typically takes 2-3 physical therapy treatment sessions to resolve your BPPV.
